Movies
Here’s what I’ve been watching recently, the good and the bad
- Roofman — 8. Tatum nails another one. Great cast and performances.
- Fairlyland — 3.5. Not my cup of tea.
- Him — 7. Bizarre as hell. Right up my alley despite poor box-office landing
- Sorry, Baby — 8. Intimate. Well done. Slow.
- Good Fortune — 8. Walks interesting line of dramedy. Kinda boring.
- Eddington — 7. Satire through and through. Ending redeems it.
- Black Phone 2 — 7. Appreciated the brave spin. Mediocre outcome.
- The Lost Bus — 6. Bland. High production value, but boring
- Lurker — 6. The cringe actively hurts.
- Relay — 8. Great performances, mostly.
- Wolf Man — 7.5. Cool movie, love the setting 😉
- Code 3 — 5. Skip it
- The Cut — 7. Interesting perspective.
- Honey Don’t — 7. Entertaining. Too raunchy for me.
- Weapons — 8/10. Horror-comedy was intentional, right?
- Together — 8.5/10. Well done, very unsettling.
- F1 — 7/10. High quality production, acceptable acting performances.
- Everything’s Going to Be Great — 6/10. Artsy fartsy. Meh
- The Salt Path — 8/10. Slow burn. Intimate, tragic and earnest.
- Dangerous Animals — 7/10. Pretty good. A few too many “Will she finally escape?!” moments.
- 40 Acres — 9/10. Intriguing survival flick. Slow burn, tasteful draw on your attention.
- Thunderbolts — 7/10. Fine. Weak offering for Marvel, obnoxious accents, lame villains.
- Bring Her Back — 8/10. Good film, but kinda nauseating. Don’t watch with dinner.
- Alma and the Wolf — 3/10. Terrible, do not watch.
- Fight or Flight — 8/10. Bullet train vibes with less interesting characters. Lots of action, surprisingly gory
- Final Destination Bloodlines — 8/10. Well done, got what I expected.
- The Surfer — 7/10. Bizarre and a touch slow. Worth a watch.
- Friendship — 5/10. Disappointing. I’ve enjoy Tim Robinson’s other work, but this didn’t land.
- Sinners — 9.5/10. Great film. Amazing performances and production, though a few confusing scenes.
- Mountainhead — 6/10. Kinda boring. Relevant satire, good cast, but… slow and aimless.
- Riff Raff — 4/10. Meh, don’t bother.
- The Surrender — 6.5/10. Cool concept, performances were alright. Movie was just fine.
- Locked — 7/10. Quite liked this despite the narrow premise. Skarsgard made it work, Hopkins was fine.
- A Nice Indian Boy — 9/10. A delightful film. Corny, predictable, and heartwarming.
